Earlier I wrote a post about revision tips and I really hope this helped some of you! I know if your doing Alevels, GCSE's or something similar in America etc, what it is like!! I have done my GCSEs and am currently doing my Alevels!! I just wanted to give you some tips on how to stay calm and not lose your cool!! I am a major worrier and so I know what it's like to go into an exam feeling like your growing to throw up! So here are my (what I think are) helpful tips to stay calm at all times!:
1) find a favourite song that relaxes you and makes you feel calmer! Just plug in your headphones and block out the world whilst you relax!
2) Try to eat something before the exam-just so that your tummy doesn't rumble (so embarrassing!). I also find it helpful to not eat straight in the morning as this is where nerves are at their greatest and you could get glued to the toilet (hahaha)!
3) take water with you and make sure you have a drink before you go to school/the exam hall as there is nothing worse that having a headache in an exam as it distracts you from your work!!
4) take a brunch bar to munch on right before the exam so keep away those tummy rumbles (haha)!!
5) stay away from the crowd!! I cannot stress how much this makes your nerves worse!! Being around people who are just as nervous as you are is not good!! I find that I just panic more! why not plug in your headphones and listen to music to just relax right before the exam!
6) take a relaxing bath! I use my bath bombs from 'Lush' and they smell sooo gorgeous! ( I'll do a review on them later!) Just relax for a while and get away from your desk!
7) get a good nights sleep!! Go to bed at 10 or even 9 and then you'll wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready for the day!!
8) take regular breaks!! As soon as you feel your concentration going take a break for 5 minutes; get a drink or something to eat then go back!
9) i find making flash cards really helpful to do as you can take them anywhere-like if you have a long journey or are just on the way to school! It helps if you ask yourself a question on the front and put the answer on the reverse! :)
10) The most important thing to do is to START YOUR REVISION EARLY!!! I have done tests where I only did The revision last minute and did I regret it later?? Yes i did!! Dont be that person who doesnt care!! Especially if you have important exams like ALevels or GCSEs!! Make sure you are prepared so your happy with the result and you know you've put the effort in!!
I really hope these help you and they are just my tips that help me so please don't get frustrated if they don't work for you (but I really hope they do!!!) and just find something that you like doing to relax eg. reading! Do you have any tips?? And GOOD LUCK!! :)
Speak soon!! :)
