Nars Sheer Glow review!!

Hola Amigos!!

It is finally half term which means that I have more time to write on my blog!! If you want to know more about the Nars Sheer Glow and whether it is a good investment then keep reading!!

Early in January I went to London and popped into Selfridges, as you do, and went over to the makeup section. I had originally planned to buy the YSL Touche eclat foundation as I had been testing it and fell in love with it. But the day before I was searching through ASOS and saw the Nars Sheer Glow foundation and so I thought I would check out the reviews - it seemed it be a seriously popular foundation and when I checked the price I am sure I saw £22. Boy was I wrong.

So I got colour checked at Nars with the Sheer Glow foundation and I did like what I saw, and because it was £9 cheaper (or so I thought) than the YSL foundation I thought I would buy it. I went up to the checkout and I had noticed that there was a little box next to my foundation and thought that it may be Nars being generous and  they'd given me a free gift...Again I was so wrong. It turned out that the foundation came to £34 - £3 more than I had aimed to spend in the first place...Oh and the little box was not a free gift - it was the pump (it cost me £3 and I didn't even know I was buying it, which I was pretty annoyed about!)
Nars Sheer Glow - My Image

ANYWAY... I used the foundation for a week and in that 1st week I was not impressed and was slightly annoyed I hadn't bought the YSL foundation as I found that the Nars foundation kept sticking to my drier patches of skin making them pretty obvious. I found this quite odd as it is for dry to normal skin types and if you do have dry skin and not enough money to play around with these expensive foundations (like myself haha), I would advise you to stay away from this one or test it first as it really does accentuate the dry patches, but if you want to try it then do what feels right for you!!

After the 1st week of using this foundation I really did start to like it even if it was annoying on drier areas - I have combination skin of dry yet oily. I now find this foundation to be great! I really do like it and I use it every day (nearly), I can't say I have noticed my skin being any more radiant like it claims but I haven't been using it for too long! I am the shade Punjab Medium 1. I noticed that these are quite yellow toned foundations and I thought Punjab was going to be too dark for me, so I would advise getting colour checked before buying as it is soo helpful!!

This foundation provides a sheer (obviously) and light coverage but it is really build-able which is great is someday's you just want something light and other more problematic days if you break out then you can opt for more coverage! I have found this quite handy! It does give a nice dewy finish and although I have more oily skin I haven't found this to be a problem! The fact that it doesn't come with a pump is slightly annoying but you don't need one - if you do then its £3 to buy!

Although I was skeptical about this at first I really like it now and would recommend it but if you have drier skin I would recommend that you try it out before purchasing because in my experience with this foundation I have found it does stick to dry patches! But you may seriously like it!!

Have you tried this and what do you think?? Sorry about the long review haha, I just wanted to get everything in!! Hope you have a good half term!

Rimmel 'Brow this way' Hit or Miss?

Hola Amigos!

Another day brings another blog post! I have recently been trying out the Rimmel 'Brow this way' brow gel and I have been waiting to post this but I knew that it would be more helpful for me to give a review rather than a first impression, so here is my review!!

Rimmel 'Brow this way' - Image my own

I really like Rimmel products; they're probably one of main 'go to' drug store brands, so when I saw that they had a brow gel I knew that I had to get it - partially because it was cheap and also because I have been in need of a brow gel for aaages!! I head to the mirror at lunch and all of a sudden my brows are out of place and all messy - for me that's a no no! I was quite skeptical about trying this product as I didn't want it to make me look like I had shiny or clumped together brows! I was also a bit worried that this would not fully dry and make my brows sticky and just plain disgusting. But as you probably know, if you don't try something you don't know the results and so I put it to the test and...

Thankfully this did not happen!! I have been using the 004 clear gel as I didn't want a tinted gel because I didn't know what shade would match and also because I like my Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil! I am glad that I did purchase this shade as  it is very likely that the gel will get on the skin due to the brush size - but don't worry it does not show at all!! I put it on my brows in the morning and when I go to the mirror later in the day my eyebrows are still 'in position'! It does not clump or look shiny and (thankfully) does not go sticky!

The only 2 downsides I can think of to this product are that I found it soo hard to shape my eyebrows with the brush given! It really helps if you remove some of the product off the brush before applying, but I found it difficult to get them into the right and even shape!! Another problem is that if you do buy clear and wear another tinted product, like a pencil, to fill in your brows, the colour of the gel can faintly go the colour of the pencil that you are using - it's not a problem in affecting the gels effectiveness though.

For the price of £3.99, I think this product is well worth the money, even if it does take patience to shape your eyebrows. It is an effective way to keep your eyebrows in shape and I do really like this product; it is a Hit! I would recommend this product if you are looking for a cheaper eyebrow gel!

Have you used this product?? If so, how did you find it??

Long time no post (and a highlighter review!)

Hola Amigos!!

I hope that all of you are ok and I need to wish you a very late HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I know - i'm 22 days late and for that I am sorry!!

I have been so busy that I haven't had time to post lately but I hope to get back to blogging verry soon!!

I thought that I would do a quick review on the Barry M 'Radiant Rod' highlighter strobing crayon! I have been loving this product for the last month and I felt it was about time to share it with you!!

It is a cream highlighting stick that is a shimmery peachy gold colour and its absolutely gorgeous!! I love to put it on the top of my cheek bones, underneath my eyebrow - on the brow bone - and I also love to use this as a primer for eye-shadow!!

This product is not described as a primer but I have found that this product is a brilliant primer for my eye-shadow and helps it to last longer through out the day! It also brightens my eyes and makes me look wide awake - to be honest I think you could use it alone as an eye-shadow it's that pretty! There is the possibility that it could crease if you had no shadow on your eyelid, and if you wanted a matte colour I would avoid it as the shimmer would ruin that matte-ness, but they are the only downsides I can think of!!

I absolutely love this colour and it brightens the face - it gives a very youthful highlight I think and I would definitely recommend this to you as a highlighter and an eye-shadow primer!! Plus, it's only £4.99 and if you use it for both highlighting and priming it is a bargain!! I love love love this product and will be re-purchasing it!! (You can get it from Asos!!)

Have you tried it and if so what do you think??

Coconut oil!!

Hola Amigos!

I hope that you are all ok?? A while a go I read an article about the benefits of coconut oil and I was like 'I must try this!'. It is, however, quite expensive for a jar - I think mine was around £5 - but it is definitely worth it. I have researched the benefits (I am not an expert!) and here is the website I used. I found some really interesting things about coconut oil and have tried out a few methods that you can do with coconut oil!! Here they are:

  1. This is the most obvious one, but I have used it to cook with. It has a really nice smell when cooking - quite sweet and coconutty (I wonder why haha). It makes some food have a very subtle taste of coconut after cooking with it but it is generally not a problem. A benefit of using coconut oil to cook with, is that it helps your body to burn fat and it has a positive impact on your brain function. (If you want to know more than don't hesitate to ask or google!!)
  2. I have put it in my hair as a hair mask!! Now I have heard that putting it as a hair mask is beneficial and makes hair incredibly soft, but I was a bit skeptical. I took a tea spoon full and put it in my hair before I went to sleep. I would recommend sleeping with a towel on your pillow if you are going to try this as it is oil and gets your pillow case greasy. I wouldn't put it on freshly cleaned hair as it does make it look greasy and doesn't really absorb; before sleeping is the best option and then wash your hair in the morning. The reason I was a bit skeptical of the results was that when I woke up my hair did not look nice at all! It was just greasy and sticky, but once I had washed it, it was so nice! My hair was super soft and my friend told me my hair looked more Beyonce-ish!! So that is a bonus!! This method is really nice as a replenishing hair mask and I would recommend it especially in the summer after going in the sea!
  3. Another method I tried was to use it as a face mask and it was really soothing to my skin. This is really nice in the winter especially, as it get cold and skin tends to become more dry, so using it as a hand cream would be really nice! I found that I had to wash it off before I applied my moisturizer - I couldn't just leave it on as it didn't absorb well and was very greasy. However, my skin was smooth afterwards and it is just soo soothing - I really recommend you trying this, especially if you have dry skin. I have also read that it can reduce the visibility of scars!

There are many other benefits and if you do want more feel free to ask, google it or follow the link at the top of the page!! Have you tried coconut oil and if so do you like it??

It's smoothie time!!

Hola Amigos!!

Now if you have read my last post on smoothies then you will know that I absolutely love them (if you haven't just click here)! I have put together another recipe for you that I really love and it has to be my favourite so far. It is full of goodness and is about 3 of your 5 a day, which is a bonus.
I just want to point out that I am not a health expert and this is just a smoothie that I like to have as a snack or desert- I have researched the benefits of most of the ingredients from google but you can research if you want more detail.

How many does this serve?
3

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 of a tub of strawberry wholegrain yogurt
  • (Optional)2 tea spoons of chia seeds (full of nutrients that benefit your brain and body)
  • (Optional)1 tea spoon of coconut water powder (helps hydrate and balance electrolytes)
  • 1 handful (large) of spinach (full of antioxidants and iron etc)
  • 1 handful (large) of kale (among the most nutrient dense foods)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 large handful of raspberries
  • 1 small handful of blueberries
  •  I didn't add this as mine was already sweet enough but you can if you want - 1 tea spoon of honey as a natural sweetener
  • (if you want this for breakfast you can always add oats to make it more substantial)

How to:

  • Add all ingredients together in a blender or smoothie maker and blend until smooth

Notes:
  • If you are worried about the taste of spinach and kale overpowering the fruit, don't worry as you cant taste it at all with these measurements!
  • Also, if you want to substitute or leave out any ingredients such as the coconut and chia then please do, they are not compulsory and do not really effect the taste, its just nutritional value! :)

I hope you like this mix!! If you try it please let me know what you think and do you have any favourite smoothie mixes??
